Apple alongside the iPhone smartphone also consists the smart speakers called HomePod. It launched the first-generation HomePod way back in 2018 and users had to wait for a long five years to get a successor i.e. HomePod 2.
Now, it seems like the iPhone maker Apple is planning to launch a new HomePod featuring an LCD display.
Apple HomePod With LCD Display Leaked
As per the tipster Kosutami (@KosutamiSan) who shared a bunch of photos on X. The leaked HomePod prototype is said to be codenamed B720. The design and panel size of the model is tipped to be the same as the HomePod 2.
According to the latest information, the next-gen HomePod is said to have an LCD display at the top. The tipster added the screen panel and glass were convex.
The current-gen HomePod has a bunch of LEDs at the top that glow in different colours to offer visual cues. The switch from these LEDs to a proper LCD display will be one of the biggest differences between the two generations.
A previously leaked photo suggested next-gen HomePod LCD display will have compatibility with Apple Music and Apple Podcasts applications. It will show album art of the currently played song and podcast.
The image also showed a blurred effect on the display. There is a possibility Apple could use the display to show other notifications like incoming calls and messages.
Unfortunately, Kosutami did not share any other details about the HomePod prototype. It means we have no information regarding technical specifications, other features, pricing, and the potential launch date of the next-generation model.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned market research analyst, revealed Apple’s plans for a new HomePod release in the first half of 2024. He claimed the model in question would come with a 7-inch display. We have been hearing about HomePod with display being under development since 2021.
