Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis Under Fire for Letters for Masterson

Ashton Kutcher, and Mila Kunis, the Hollywood it couple, are under fire on social media for the letter they sent to the court during Danny Masterson’s trial for rape.

Danny Masterson, a US actor, who was famous for roles like Stephen Hyde in the 70s show was recently charged with two counts of rape for two different women. Masterson had worked with both Kunis and Kutcher on the popular early 2000s show. And now the tea had his trial, a couple of his former costars on the 70s show has sent forward their statement of support to the judge.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, along with a couple more actors, sent letters to the judge vouching for Masterson‘s character. however, the couple did not expect they are letters to be publicized, even though they had full knowledge that Masterson was a public figure, and there was a high chance that their statements would go out in public as well.

Parts of the letter Kutcher sent read, “ Kas a friend, Danny has been nothing but a positive influence on me. He’s an extraordinarily honest and intentional human being. Over 25 years of our relationship, I don’t ever recall him lying to me. He’s taught me about being direct and confronting issues in life and relationships, head-on, resolving them, and moving forward. Danny is a person who is consistent. Be there for you when you need him.”

When the contents of their letters were publicized, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were slammed on many social media platforms for allegedly supporting an abuser. Even fellow Hollywood stars like Christina Ricci came for them and called them out for allegedly being on the side of Masterson, now a convicted rapist.

In response to the backlash they had been receiving, Kutcher and Kunis posted an Instagram video, explaining their side of the fence. Kunis defended herself, and her husband, saying, “The letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury’s ruling.… We support victims. We have done this historically through work, and will continue to do so in the future.“

Kutcher supported her wife’s statement, saying, “They were intended for the judge to read, and not to undermine the testimony of the victims, or to re-traumatize them in any way… We would never want to do that. And we are sorry if that has taken place.“

Kunis ended the video by saying, “Our heart goes out to every single person who has ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse or rape.”

There are many rumors floating on the Internet, speculating why Ashton, Kutcher, and Mila Kunis went out of their way to send the letters. Masterson is a known Scientologist and netizens are suspecting that Ashton Kutcher‘s ties with Masterson are beyond partying together and being cool investors. In the past, Ashton Kutcher had performed and attended events at the church of Scientology. However, Kutcher neither confirmed nor denied his ties with the organization.
