Intel has officially launched its new 14th-generation Core mobile and desktop processors at the ongoing CES 2024 in Las Vegas. These include the new 14th Gen Intel Core HX-series mobile CPUs, 18 new 14th Gen Intel Core desktop CPUs, and the new Intel Core U Processor Series 1 family.
14th Gen Intel Core HX-Series Mobile CPUs
Intel’s 14th Gen Core HX series comes with 5.8GHz turbo frequency claimed to deliver up to 17% better gaming performance and up to 51% faster multitasking performance.
These boosted figures are based on the company’s testing featuring the new 14th Gen Intel Core i9-14900HX against AMD’s 7945X3D and 7945HX respectively. The Intel chip in question here has 32 threads and up to 24 cores i.e. eight Performance-cores aka P-cores and 16 Efficient-cores aka E-cores.
Intel is touting 50% more E-cores in the Core i7-14700HX processors. It means you will now have 28 threads and 20 cores featuring eight P-cores and 12 E-cores. There is support for Intel’s Extreme Utility (XTU) and Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) for those who love to overclock their processors.
One of the biggest highlights of the new 14th Gen Intel Core HX-Series is support for Thunderbolt 5 and WiFi 7. It can now deliver up to 80Gbps bi-directional bandwidth and bandwidth boost up to 120Gbps.
14th Gen Intel Core Desktop CPUs
The company has launched a total of 18 new 14th Gen Core desktop processors. These boast up to 5.8GHz turbo frequency delivering up to 37% faster multi-thread performance and up to 7% better gen-over-gen MS Office performance.
The king of the family is Intel Core i9-14900 as it offers up to 24 cores featuring eight P-cores and 16 E-cores. The new family continues supporting in-box thermal solutions including the Intel Laminar RH1 and RM1 coolers. There is compatibility with Thunderbolt 4, WiFi 7, and WiFi 6E.
The new 14th Gen Intel Core desktop CPU lineup is already available for purchase via online and offline partners.
14th Gen Intel Core U Processor Series 1
The Core U Series 1 chips are more or less the same as the previous generation i.e. 13th Gen Intel Core U processors. There are three processors Core 3, Core 5, and Core 7.
The star of the show is the Intel Core 7 150U featuring 12 threads and 10 cores with 2 P-cores and eight E-cores. The series has WiFi 7, WiFi 6E, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity support.
