Fossil is rolling out new features for its Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches thanks to an update to Google’s Wear OS system. The new Wear OS 3.5 update adds new features to affected Fossil wearables, in addition to the usual general improvements.
Wear OS 3.5 is coming to Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches
Fossil says that with Wear OS 3.5 users can expect longer battery life, although no details on this have been revealed. Furthermore, Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches will gain up to 30% in terms of speed, thanks to a more optimized overall experience, plus from now on they will support a greater number of third-party apps.
The update also brings changes to the user interface, introducing a new home screen, a link to Google Home , and gesture controls for more intuitive navigation. The performance optimization will also be reflected in better monitoring of the user’s fitness thanks to the Fitbit integration that Google acquired some time ago.
The update is being released for the Fossil Gen 6 Standard, Wellness Edition, Skagen Falster and Diesel Griffed models, but at the moment it is not clear whether Wear OS 4 is planned for this series of smartwatches.
