Google Maps director Marlo McGriff, has just announced important changes to the Location History of the Google account and to the functioning of Google Maps Movements, all aimed at greater protection of user privacy.
More privacy for Maps Location History and Trips
At present, the data relating to the Location History of each Google account that has the option to save it active is stored on Big G’s servers, but soon the situation will undergo a real turning point: Android and iOS users they will be able to choose to better protect their privacy by storing the information in question on the memory of the device used.
The news is not yet available and when it is released it will be appropriately notified to end users in Google Maps. In this app, in fact, there is a Movements section which contains a link to the Location History of your Google account, so you can quickly manage the related settings.
Cloud backup will remain as an option , useful for avoiding data loss in situations such as switching to a new smartphone and the breakage or loss of the one in use.
The changes described for Location History and Maps Movement will be rolled out gradually: Android and iOS users will receive them over the next year.
