Google Calendar is now getting the December 2023 update. In addition to this, there is also a small addition worth mentioning in the wake of integration with Tasks.
Google Calendar between large screens and gestures
For a few years now, that is to say since foldable smartphones have ceased to be a curiosity for technology enthusiasts and Android tablets have regained a certain popularity, Google has started working hard to optimize the operating system of the robot and all the own apps for satisfactory use even on larger screens than those of traditional smartphones.
In the last year, then, the commitment has become direct in both market segments with the launch of Google Pixel Fold and Google Pixel Tablet . In the meantime, the aforementioned optimization work continues and the latest concrete examples come from Google Calendar : @Nail_Sadykov from Google News has discovered a couple of new features still in the pipeline, both interesting.
The first change concerns the app’s Settings and more precisely their layout on devices with larger screens: the related menu will be divided into two columns . In this case, the Settings menu will remain on the left side and any submenus – with switches and various items – will open on the right side of the screen.
Speaking of navigation within the app, the second new feature concerns gesture controls and is something new: instead of closing the entire Settings menu, the gesture shown allows you to simply go back to the previous page . The interaction is also different: the swipe is performed from the center of the screen and not from the edge of the screen.
