Huawei is now looking to build the factory in France. According to what has been reported by Reuters in recent hours, Huawei will begin building its mobile network equipment factory in France over the next year.
Huawei’s factory in France will eventually be built
It seems that the Chinese giant had outlined the plans for the factory in question with an initial investment of 200 million euros already in 2020 (with 300 workers to be employed in an initial phase and the possibility of reaching up to 500 jobs) but the programs have been significantly delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Brumath, near Strasbourg, was chosen for the location while at the moment the Chinese giant has not provided official details regarding the possible opening date of the facility. Some more information came from a source close to the French government, according to which the factory could open its doors during 2025.
It should be noted, however, that at the moment the main European leaders are also discussing how to reduce security risks without giving up cooperation with China which, let us remember, represents the world’s second largest economy.
The vendor outlined plans for the factory with an initial investment of 200 million euros ($215.28 million) in 2020. However, the construction of this facility was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the source said.
The source did not give a timeline for when the factory in Brumath, near Strasbourg, will be fully operational.
According to the report, a French government source said the site was expected to open in 2025.
The report also noted that Huawei is moving ahead with this project despite the fact that some European governments restrict or ban the use of equipment made by Chinese vendors Huawei and ZTE over security concerns.
