Johnson Controls

Volunteerism

Johnson Controls recognizes that when employees volunteer in the community, everyone wins. Globally, our employees give of their time to local communities in both individual and team volunteering. Many of our employee leaders serve on boards of nonprofit organizations. Volunteering allows the employee to gain valuable perspective and experience, and the communities where Johnson Controls has a presence are made stronger with our employee service. We encourage all employees to find a cause they are passionate about and volunteer regularly.

Volunteerism
From Argentina to Vietnam, through our global Blue Sky Involve program, employees volunteer individually or in teams with a local nonprofit organization whose mission involves building a safe, smart or sustainable community.

We Give

Through our WeGive global volunteer program, when employees volunteer with an eligible cause that builds safe, smart and sustainable communities, a $10/hour corporate donation follows upon approval. Nearly 800,000 nonprofit organizations in 200 countries where our employees live and work, are approved as eligible for the program.

Globally, more than 80% of Johnson Controls volunteering ties to one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), with 40% to Sustainable Cities and Communities and 20% to Quality Education. Through the program, Johnson Controls seeks to better connect our philanthropy and volunteerism, leveraging the impact of both.

Community Leadership Program

We encourage our leaders to engage fully in their communities through nonprofit board service. With many worthy organizations looking for the support of Johnson Controls, employees who serve on boards or who volunteer with nonprofits often give guidance and direction to Johnson Controls’ philanthropic decision-makers. These employees also gain valuable experience with diverse stakeholders in the community that they can then bring back to their position at Johnson Controls.
