Google is bringing more features in AR technology, alternating peak moments with others in which it seems that the Mountain View giant is projected onto other sectors.
The company recently filed a patent for a solution that involves implanting an image sensor inside a pair of smart glasses for virtual control.
According to what can be learned from this patent, users who have devices such as a Nest speaker or an Android smart TV could count on an interface that can be managed through glasses.
Google wants to make smart glasses more useful
The interface can be considered a sort of virtual object, positioned in a physical space as it is shown through smart glasses. In the case of smart speakers it would therefore be possible to manage playback and view information on what is being played at the same time, while with a thermostat from the Nest range it would be possible to view information, such as that relating to average monthly usage
According to what is explained in the patent, users could use this solution to browse the Web UI elements artificially created by smart glasses) or to easily turn light bulbs on or off.
Unfortunately, at the moment there are no details on when this patent could transform into a product ready to reach the market and, moreover, it is not certain that Google will be the one to take care of the hardware part, as it is easier for the Mountain View giant to only take care of of the software one.
