police-arrest-suspect-three-person-stabbing-californiaAuthorities have arrested a 19-year-old man in California in connection to a triple stabbing incident. The stabbing claimed the lives of a mother and her 8-year-old daughter.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that they took Jacob Allen Wright into custody after a five-week investigation into the murders of Jia Jia, 44, and Ruby Meng, 8. Wright was arrested on Tuesday.

The two were found dead inside a home in Rancho Cucamonga in the early morning hours of March 7.

According to police, another 38-year-old woman was found in the home with stab wounds, but she was able to survive her injuries. The woman is believed to be a family friend of the victim.

Detectives served Wright a search warrant to collect evidence as part of their investigation into the double murder. But according to authorities, they have not yet found a relationship between the suspect and the victims.

Police continue to look into the motive of the incident as it remains unclear. Investigators handling the case believe that Wright acted alone.

According to the sheriff’s department, the investigators interviewed Wright before arresting him. He was booked for murder and attempted murder charges.

As of this writing, Wright is being held without bail at the West Valley Detention Center. His online jail records show that he is scheduled to appear in Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court on Thursday.

There is no word on whether Wright hired the services of a legal representative to defend him.

Police are asking the public for any information about the stabbings to speak to Detective Malcolm Page of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
