Xiaomi introduced several new products in China including the new Watch 4 smartwatch, the Redmi Buds 5 Pro wireless headphones and the Redmi Book 14 and Redmi Book 16 2024 notebooks.
Redmi Watch 4
As per the official specifications, the Redmi Watch 4, the direct successor to the model launched almost a year ago that we had the opportunity to try and review.
The new smartwatch offers a square-shaped screen with an aluminum alloy frame making it the first from the brand to feature a metal unibody.
On the right side there is a rotating stainless steel crown, which follows the coloring of the rest of the case. There is also IP68 certification against water and dust.
It comes with a 1.97-inch LTPS AMOLED with 60 Hz refresh rate, 390 x 450 resolution and brightness up to 600 nits. he operating system is Xiaomi HyperOS , with support for smartphones with the same OS or with at least Android 8.0 Oreo or iOS 12.0.
Redmi Buds 5 Pro
The Redmi Buds 5 Pro true wireless headphones come in a semi-in ear stem and silicone rubber tips. There are three colors and they are called Snow White, Obsidian Black and Ice Porcelain Blue (as well as a particular black and orange e-sport version), which concern not only the headphones but also the related cases.
The Redmi Buds 5 Pro are equipped with a 10 mm tweeter and an 11 mm dynamic subwoofer , respectively for clearer treble and deeper bass, which can count on the help of active noise cancellation up to 52 dB. The latter can rely on artificial intelligence adaptive adjustment and an ultra-wide 4 kHz noise reduction frequency band, which automatically adjusts the ANC. There is also a function specifically designed to eliminate wind noise, for better quality during calls.
There is LHDC 5.0 support for high-quality audio streaming, as well as spatial audio for 360-degree immersion in music or content.
Redmi Book 14 and Redmi Book 16 2024
Redmi also launched the two new notebooks from the Book 2024 line. The Redmi Book 14 2024 and Redmi Book 16 2024: the first offers a 14-inch screen with 2.8K resolution with maximum brightness of 300 nits, the second a 16-inch panel at 2.5K resolution with maximum brightness of 400 nits. There is no lack of support for Dolby Vision, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and TÜV Rheinland certification for visual comfort (against blue light). We also have variations in weight between the two, with the more compact model stopping at 1.37 kg, and the other reaching 1.68 kg.
Under the hood, it is powered by the 13th generation Intel Core i5-13500H , with clock speeds of up to 4.8 GHz and a chip optimized for gaming and the most demanding applications. At its side there is 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 512 GB or 1 TB SSD depending on the version. The battery is 56 or 72 Wh and promises autonomy of up to 10 or 16 hours: 47 W fast charging takes place via the USB Type-C port. There is a backlit keyboard, integrated webcam, an optimized cooling system, HDMI port, Thunderbolt 4, three USB-A ports and a 3.5mm audio jack port.
