Samsung has yet to start the rollout of the December 2023 security patch update, but it has revealed what’s included in the new update. Meanwhile, Google has found a critical security flaw in Android that allows remote code execution.
The December 2023 security patch addresses seven critical vulnerabilities
Samsung’s December 2023 security update contains 75 fixes for known security vulnerabilities, 54 of which were released by Google and included in the patch.
Samsung’s semiconductor division has offered four security fixes for Exynos chipsets, while its smartphone division has patched 16 security flaws.
Of the 54 fixes offered by Google, seven are rated critical, while 43 fixes are marked high priority.
Of Samsung’s 16 fixes, 9 are marked as high priority, while 6 are marked as moderate priority. Samsung’s fixes include issues related to Samsung Knox , memory and integer overflow, AR Emoji, bootloader, Smart Clip, and the Contacts app.
This update could be released on dozens of smartphones and tablets within the next few days.
Google finds a critical flaw in Android security
Google has discovered a “critical security vulnerability” in Android that makes it possible for a hacker to remotely execute arbitrary code on the victim’s smartphone. Furthermore, the vulnerability can be used by an attacker even in the vicinity of the victim by exploiting the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connection or NFC.
