Mission Inspiration4: SpaceX is Launching its First Civilian Flight Into Earth’s Orbit on Wednesday

SpaceX is poised to attempt a new first: orbiting a spaceship operated by non-professional astronauts.

A billionaire, a physician assistant, an engineer, and a scientist comprise the four-person team. They will clamber onboard a Crew Dragon spaceship atop a Falcon 9 rocket on Wednesday, weather permitting, and then roar into space. They are scheduled to orbit Earth for three days, taking in the views and collecting data for scientific studies, before plummeting back to Earth and parachute-landing safely. Their mission is dubbed Inspiration4.

Jared Isaacman, a billionaire, chartered the journey from SpaceX and is also controlling the Crew Dragon spaceship. He assigned the remaining three seats to Hayley Arceneaux, a child cancer survivor who now works at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Chris Sembroski, a retired Air Force officer who now works for Lockheed Martin; and Dr. Sian Proctor, a geoscientist who serves as an analog astronaut in simulations of long-term Mars missions.

The crew is not climbing into the spaceship in the same way that you or I would board a plane. They’ve spent the last four months training — poring over instructions, straining their bodies to unprecedented heights, and simulating worst-case scenarios. This week, they completed the training, which is primarily modeled after NASA’s handbook.

Despite thousands of hours experienced flying jets and ex-military aircraft, Isaacman told Insider that astronaut training was “more intense” than he anticipated.

“I definitely underestimated it to some extent,” he admitted.

When billionaires Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson each took their own rocket voyage, skimming the edge of space but not entering orbit, neither disclosed their training. However, the Inspiration4 crew has been publicly documenting their preparations, providing insight into the process of preparing amateurs for spaceflight.

After completing their training, Isaacman, Proctor, Arceneaux, and Sembroski traveled to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Thursday to finalize launch preparations.

These are SpaceX’s first commercial flights, but the company plans to expand. It already has another mission of this type scheduled for January: Axiom Space rented a Crew Dragon for that voyage, dubbed AX-1, to transport customers to the International Space Station for eight days.

Larry Connor, a real estate investor, Mark Pathy, a Canadian investor, and Eytan Stibbe, a former Israeli fighter pilot, are among the AX-1’s crew. Michael López-Alegra, vice president of Axiom Space and a former NASA astronaut, will lead the mission. It is unknown what their workout routine will entail.

Kaley Cuoco Asked the Court to Deny her Ex-Husband Karl Cook Spousal Support Due to the Prenuptial Agreement

Kaley and Karl married in 2018 and announced their separation on Labor Day Weekend. The two issued a joint statement, which reads as follows:

“Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions.

“We have both shared so much of our journey publicly, so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together. There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary.”

Kaley, 35, has petitioned the court to forego any spousal support payments to her ex-husband Karl Cook, 30. According to The Blast’s discovery of her divorce application, the actress requested that neither party give support, as specified in their prenuptial agreement. Additionally, the papers reported that the television personality had classified her separation date as “TBD” for the time being.

The former couple met during a horse show, as Karl is a professional equestrian. Kaley has been a long-time fan of the sport and was intrigued when the equestrian rider was unaware of her celebrity identity.

According to a source close to the Big Bang Theory actress, she is “doing fine” because the former pair “hasn’t spent that much time together recently.”

“She has a big career and puts that first in her life. It’s basically growing apart and each pursuing separate interests,” an insider explained. “She has a lot going on in her profession at the moment and is passionate about her work. Their relationship is simply taking different directions.”

The insider added, “A marriage will fail if one partner sees the other on a regular basis.”

Karl has also been focusing on his profession, spending most of his time riding in Florida rather than Los Angeles.

This will be Kaley’s second divorce, following her 2013–2016 marriage to Ryan Sweeting. The two reportedly “mutually decided” to end their relationship after barely 21 months together.

According to People, Kaley has chosen to end her second marriage similarly to her first, as Ryan did not get spousal support from the actress. Following the signing of a prenuptial agreement, court documents indicated that she would not provide financial assistance to the professional tennis player.

Earlier this week, The Sun reported that Kaley and the Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson have been “getting closer” during their time on set. She has been snuggling up to Pete shortly after the announcement of her divorce.

Beyoncé and JAY-Z Donate $2M in Scholarship Funds to 5 HBCUs for Art and Creative Students

On Thursday, Tiffany & Co. announced that Beyoncé’s organization BeyGOOD and the Shawn Carter Foundation, founded by JAY-Z, had partnered with the jewelry luxury company to donate $2 million to five historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

The money will be awarded to Norfolk State University in Virginia, Lincoln University in Pennsylvania; the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff in Arkansas; Bennett College in North Carolina; and Central State University in Ohio as part of their “ABOUT LOVE” campaign.

To be eligible, incoming and active students must qualify for financial aid at their HBCU, with preference given to those in most need. Additionally, they must be pursuing degrees in creative professions such as visual arts, media, performance, or design, history, or communication.

The amount will vary according to the financial support required by each student.

Applications will be available on the websites of the five HBCUs beginning Friday, September 10, and will expire at 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, September 26.

“We would like to thank the Shawn Carter Foundation, BeyGOOD, The Carters, and the Tiffany & Co. family for including Lincoln University in this amazing gift,” Lincoln University President Dr. Brenda A. Allen said in a statement.

“Over the years, we have developed a wonderful partnership being a part of The Shawn Carter Foundation HBCU Bus Tour. Lincoln has placed a high priority on supporting the arts and humanities on our campus. Providing financial support for students pursuing these majors enhances their ability to more fully engage their studies,” Allen added.

The University of Central Missouri President Dr. Jack Thomas said in a statement, “We are appreciative of the support of BeyGood, the Shawn Carter Foundation, The Carters, and Tiffany & Co. This opportunity is timely as our students come from many different socioeconomic backgrounds. These funds will have a tremendous effect on who we recruit and our students’ success as they move on to graduate and professional schools and into their careers.”

Anisa Kamadoli Costa, Chief Sustainability Officer at Tiffany & Co., lauded Beyoncé and JAY-Z for “Their relentless dedication to lifting underrepresented groups is the inspiration for the About Love Scholarship program.”

Additionally, the premium jewelry brand said they will begin expanding their efforts to assist historically black colleges, universities, and other disadvantaged areas in 2022.

Singer Demi Lovato Reveals UFO Experience in a New Series ‘Unexplained and Unidentified’

Demi Lovato is on a mission to discover life on other planets. Peacock released the official teaser for Demi Lovato’s new series Unidentified on Thursday. The documentary follows the singer, her closest friend Matthew Scott Montgomery, and her sister Dallas Lovato as they investigate space and UFOs with the assistance of some specialists.

“I had this crazy experience that happened to me in Joshua Tree,” Lovato, 29, says at the start of the trailer. “It was this bright light that kind of moved in like these weird ways that a plane wouldn’t move. My goal is to find out what really happened.”

“I’m Demi Lovato, singer, activist, and UFO experiencer,” they continue. “I’m hitting the road with my best friend Matthew and my sister Dallas to investigate the unexplained and the unidentified.”

The trailer follows the group as they go to several locations and speak with many experts to “make contact with the truth” regarding what exists in outer space.

“What if extraterrestrials aren’t traveling lightyears to visit us?” Lovato asks. “What if they’re already here waiting for us to reach out?”

In one scene, an expert spoke to a device used to communicate with the aliens, “Say hello to Demi,” before the tool responded with a similar greeting. Lovato and her team then let out surprised gasps.

Lovato states at the trailer’s conclusion, “Wow, I’m so excited.”

The new Peacock performance was announced in May, when Lovato said on social media that they would be “hitting the road for an out-of-this-world adventure.”

According to a press release, Demi, Dallas, and Matthew will consult specialists, run experiments, explore eyewitness experiences, and find hidden government reports on the show.

Demi will also interview scientists and alleged alien abductees in order to “initiate close encounters and make peace with aliens.” The show will be shot in the form of a “docu-follow exploration of Demi’s quest.”

Unidentified is scheduled for release on September 30.
