Facebook’s New Meta Watch is Set to Compete with Apple After a Photo of the Device was Leaked

A leaked image online depicts a smartwatch that Facebook Inc., rebranded as Meta Platforms Inc., is developing, possibly to compete with the Apple Watch.

The image was discovered inside the Facebook View iPhone app and showed a watch with a front-facing camera and a rounded screen. The watch’s front-facing camera looks to be located at the bottom of the display, with a control button on the watch’s right-hand side. The huge display on the watch is comparable to that on the Apple Watch.

Steve Moser, an app developer, discovered the image and shared it with The Sun, but a Meta spokeswoman declined to comment.

Bloomberg reports that the image was discovered in the company’s software for controlling its new smart glasses, which were released in collaboration with Ray-Ban. Other watches on the market, such as Google’s Fitbit and Garmin’s sports-oriented offerings, frequently feature smaller, more basic displays.

On the other hand, Apple’s device lacks a camera, which some believe could make Meta’s rumored watch stand out in the market.

Like the Apple Watch, Meta’s watch may have a heart-rate monitor, according to The Verge. Meta is expected to introduce its watch in early 2022, although no specific date has been determined.

According to reports, Meta is developing three generations of items that will be released at various points throughout the year. As the image was spotted in a Facebook View glasses app, the watch may be controlled using Android or iPhone devices.

More details emerged saying that the code within the program suggests that the watch may be called “Milan” and that the camera may be capable of collecting both photographs and movies. These files can then be downloaded to a phone.

Facebook’s new name serves as a catch-all for the company’s whole operation, the app’s name will remain unchanged. Meta is currently the company’s official brand, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus.

Zayn Malik Issues Statement Following Reports That He Struck Gigi Hadid’s Mother, Yolanda

Zayn Malik is coming out following what he refers to as an “argument” with a member of Gigi Hadid’s family. The 28-year-old musician and the 26-year-old model share 13-month-old Khai.

Malik issued a statement on Thursday, explaining that while he is generally a private person who wishes to “create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in,” he chose to speak out after the matter was “‘leaked’ to the press.”

Though he did not specifically cite the publication, TMZ published a report citing sources alleging that he “struck” Gigi Hadid’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. Numerous sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Yolanda, 57, is the family member Malik is alluding to in his comments.

“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid, and for the sake of my daughter, I decline to give any further details, and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private,” Malik told TMZ in a statement.

Malik stated in his tweet that he wishes to establish “a place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her, I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”

“This was and still should be a private matter, but it seems, for now, there is divisiveness, and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been leaked to the press,” the former One Direction member continued.

“I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared, and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves,” he added.

Malik previously stated on iHeartRadio’s Valentine in the Morning in March that fatherhood is “amazing.”

Malik, Gigi, and Yolanda’s representatives did not immediately reply to requests for comment from PEOPLE.

Jeremy Renner Slams ‘Avengers’ Co-Stars for Stealing Props from the Sets: ‘Dirtbags!’

Jeremy Renner, a Marvel actor, slammed Chris Hemsworth and his “Avengers” co-stars for allegedly stealing memorabilia from the sets.

“Over the decade or so of doing ‘The Avengers’ and all that sort of stuff, I never took anything because they asked us not to, and my mom taught me well, so I never took anything,” Renner, who portrays Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the MCU, said Tuesday during an appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

“All the other Avengers took stuff, those dirtbags!” continued the actor. “They stole something. Thor’s got his hammer.”

Renner stated in response to Kimmel’s assertion that Hemsworth took more than one hammer: “What a dirtbag. What a thief!”

Hemsworth possesses not only five of Thor’s hammers but also the Stormbreaker, which was constructed during “Avengers: Infinity War.”

He is hardly the only MCU actor to have snatched souvenirs from film shoots. Robert Downey Jr. snatched up the massive “A” from the set of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” while Chris Evans snatched up Captain America’s iconic shield. Tom Holland, who collects artifacts from each production he works on, saved the web-shooters from his Spider-Man outfit and Tony Stark’s glasses.

Renner, who will reprise his Marvel role in a separate Disney+ series called “Hawkeye” (which will premiere on November 24), revealed that he requested to borrow his superhero costume following the conclusion of the show’s filming.

“I got asked to be the valet guy at my daughter’s school,” Renner said, explaining that the job involves him ushering students to their classrooms during the morning drop-off. “I said, ‘Fine; if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it dressed as Hawkeye.'”

“I don’t know if they’re gonna ask for it back,” he continued. “I probably won’t give it back at this point, but I got it finally.”

Dave Bautista Reveals He Felt ‘Like a Little Fanboy’ When Acting Opposite Stellan Skarsgård in ‘Dune’

While starring opposite co-star Stellan Skarsgård in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune,” Dave Bautista admitted that he felt “a little fanboy” about the role.

According to Bautista, despite the fact that he was portraying a scary monster onscreen, he was quite intimidated during several of his early scenes, which took place in the thermal baths on the Harkonnen planet Giedi Prime.

“I’m supposed to be this big, menacing, ominous character — and I’m literally shitting myself,” Bautista explained.

“I’m like, ‘That’s Stellan Skarsgård!'”

“And I was next to my buddy thinking this is all so surreal, like, ‘How the hell did I get from a professional wrestling ring to here? This is crazy!’ I was dying on the inside,” added the former professional wrestler.

According to Bautista, his heart was “beating fast” during his first few scenes, but he didn’t let it get in the way of his immersion into the role.

“I was just so excited, but, at the same time, just trying to be terrifying,” the Guardians of the Galaxy star said. “So, terrifying on the outside, inside, I was like a little fanboy.”

Despite being a latecomer in Hollywood, Bautista soon rose to prominence, beginning with his breakout role as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy when he was in his mid-40s.

In “Dune,” Skarsgård portrays the malevolent Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, who is morbidly fat and floats above the ground, while Bautista portrays Glossu “Beast” Rabban, Baron Harkonnen’s brutish nephew.

Based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel, Villeneuve’s “Dune” follows young nobleman Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he and his family journey to the desert planet Arrakis. When the Atreides family first arrives on the planet, they are confronted with a slew of difficulties, including attacks from their arch-rivals, the Harkonnens.

“Dune” is currently playing in cinemas and on HBO Max.

Salma Hayek Claims She Struggled in Hollywood Due to Her Accent – Until it Helped her Land a Role on ‘Puss in Boots’

Salma Hayek believes her accent caused her problems in Hollywood until it won her a part in ‘Puss in Boots.’

Salma Hayek’s career was undoubtedly flourishing by the time Puss in Boots arrived. She garnered an Oscar nod for her lyrical depiction of Frida Kahlo in the 2002 biopic Frida and hundreds of other credits, including recurring appearances on the smash sitcoms 30 Rock and Ugly Betty, where she received a nomination for Emmy.

However, the Mexico native claims that the 2011 Shrek spinoff, which opened in theaters on October 28, 2011, changed everything for her and Antonio Banderas, her Spanish co-star.

“The whole thing was so bizarre because Antonio and I really struggle because of our accents,” Hayek explained to Yahoo Entertainment in a 2017 Role Recall interview. “Nobody wanted to hire us because of our accents. And in this case, they hired us because of our voices, [because of] our accents.”

After Banderas’s endearing but murderous sword-wielding feline became an instant fan favorite in 2004’s Shrek 2 (and later in 2007’s Shrek the Third and 2010’s Shrek Forever After), DreamWorks lost no time in greenlighting his own independent adventure.

The Chris Miller-directed film was the seventh collaboration between Hayek and Banderas. She voiced the sleek and thieving tuxedo cat Kitty Softpaws, Puss’s love interest.

“He was just so amazing, this cat, and he was so Antonio,” Hayek said of Banderas’ portrayal in the movie.

As with the Shrek films, Puss in Boots’ box office performance was straight out of a fairy tale and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. It earned $145 million in the United States and $554 million worldwide, making it the 15th highest-grossing film of 2011.

“He was just so lovable, the eyes,” Hayek swooned. “So I thought it was going to do well.”

Hayek’s next film appearance will be in Marvel’s Eternals, which opens November 5.
