California Hit-and-Run Left 3 Children Dead, 1 Severely Injured

Authorities are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed three children and critically injured a fourth while walking along a desert highway in Southern California.

The four young girls — two of whom were in wheelchairs, including the lone survivor of the collision — were struck by a white Chevrolet Silverado that drifted onto the shoulder of the road and hit them from behind shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The San Bernardino County coroner’s office identified the victims who died as 11-year-old Willow Sanchez, 12-year-old Daytona Bronas, and 13-year-old Sandra Mizer. Natalie Cole, 14, was the only survivor, was taken by Mercy Air to an intensive care unit at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Cole and Bronas are on wheelchairs and were being pushed by the other two.

“Her leg was amputated in the accident, all her other limbs are shattered, and her liver is bleeding, her kidneys are struggling,” Cole’s mother, Sherrie Orndorff, said.

“You got out of your vehicle, looked at those dead and dying girls on the ground, and you ran,” Orndoff said of the people in the truck.

According to the official report, the truck’s driver and passenger stopped after the collision. They used a flashlight to see who they had hit before fleeing without calling 911 and leaving the truck, as seen by witnesses.

The four victims had just completed their eighth-grade year at Lucerne Valley Middle School.

According to the video, some people were seen gathering at the crash site on Monday evening in a small memorial of candles, teddy bears, and flowers by the side of the road.

The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation on the incident, and it is not yet clear what caused the triple fatal collision. Authorities are also unsure how fast the pickup was traveling when it collided with the girls.

For any information about the crash, please contact Officer L. McAllister of the California Highway Patrol’s Victorville office at 760-241-1186.

Alyssa Milano Considers Running for Congress in 2024

Hollywood actress Alyssa Milano, 48, may trade in one acting environment for another as she considers leaving Hollywood for a potential House seat in the 2024 elections.

“I’m looking at California’s 4th District to potentially run against [Rep. Tom] McClintock, R-Calif.,” the actress-turned-activist told The Hill on Tuesday.

“I split my time between Truckee, Calif., and Bell Canyon, Calif., and the Republicans have basically had a strong arm there in the 4th District,” said Milano.

McClintock has served as the United States Representative for California’s 4th Congressional District since 2009 and was re-elected with 56% of the vote in November. Donald Trump also defeated President Biden by nine points in the District.

“I would love to maybe consider flipping that seat blue,” the “Insatiable” star continued. “It’s going to take someone with, I think, name recognition and deep pockets to be able to run against McClintock, and so I’m considering it. I’m basically gathering information right now, speaking to different consultants, speaking to the community.”

Milano indicated that a decision on the matter could be made after the 2022 midterm elections, as she is currently working on a number of projects, including a Netflix film she recently completed and a new installment of “Who’s the Boss.”

“Before I run, obviously I can’t do both at the same time,” she says of her acting work. “So it’s just really going to be about timing.”

Last month, the outspoken actress asked her 3.6 million Twitter followers if she should challenge McClintock.

She also gave Biden a favorable rating, stating that he has done a “really great job” thus far during his tenure in office, but lamented that “there is obviously a lot more work to be done, particularly in the area of gun violence prevention.”

Following the March shooting in Boulder, Colorado, in which ten people were killed, including a police officer, Milano wasted no time calling for changes to gun laws on Twitter and urging for gun violence to be “eradicated” through filibuster restructuring.

Khloe Kardashian Responds to Critic Who Said Plastic Surgery Made Her Look Like an ‘Alien’

Khloe Kardashian, a 36-year-old reality star, has responded once again to a comment about her constantly changing appearance. She responded to a Twitter critic who criticized her appearance in a commercial for Nurtec ODT, a migraine medication.

“Does research indicate that the more plastic surgery someone has, the more likely they are to suffer from migraines?” wrote Twitter user @MarshaCoupe, who calls herself a “feminist” and “Socialist” in her bio.

“What kind of pharmaceutical company chooses someone who has had so much plastic surgery they look like an alien, as their spokesperson?”

Kardashian’s response to the tweet received over 1,300 likes.

“Sorry, you feel that way. You have every right to block/mute me,” she wrote. “I am trying to help many out there who suffer in silence.”

“[You are] completely entitled to your opinions. Just as I am mine,” she continued. “I don’t think you should refer to yourself as a feminist if you are attacking a woman unprovoked.”

In recent months, Kardashian has repeatedly sparked speculation about plastic surgery, as many fans believe she is constantly debuting a “new face.” Critics have compared her to other celebrities, including Beyoncé and Ariana Grande.

While Kardashian has responded to or joked about these comments on occasion, she has not explicitly denied the issue. According to plastic surgeons, Kardashian underwent a rhinoplasty, or nose job, as well as filler injections in her jaw, lips, and cheeks.

In 2018, she explained that her slimmer nose was achieved through contouring because she is “afraid” of surgery — but added that she would consider undergoing a rhinoplasty “because I think about it every day.”

“I hope that whenever I need/want a facial surgery, I can just take a pill or something lol this s— scares me,” she tweeted.

Recently, Kardashian was criticized for attempting to scrape an unedited photo of herself from the internet, reinforcing the public’s scrutiny of her reliance on photo editing and filters.

Chicago Gun Violence is Killing 3 Times More Children in 2021 Compared to 2020

According to a recent report, more than three times as many children have died due to gun violence on Chicago’s streets than at the same time of the year in 2020. A local community leader complained that “our children are becoming extinct.”

The Chicago Sun-Times examined this year’s crime statistics and discovered that the rate of fatal shootings of children is three times higher than it was in 2020 during the same period.

Gun violence has claimed the lives of ten children aged 15, and under so far in 2021, the outlet reported, citing its crime records. According to the Sun-Times, more children have been mortally wounded in this year’s shootings than in all of 2019.

“I don’t understand how we are not as a city absolutely outraged,” Rev. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church in Auburn Gresham told the Sun-Times. “Our children are becoming extinct.”

According to the report, 52 of the nearly 1,500 gunshot victims in 2021 have been 15 or younger – up by nine from the 43 reported at the same time in 2020.

One of those victims, an 11-year-old girl, was struck once in the lower back during a drive-by shooting around 9 p.m. on Sunday, police said. Witnesses told officers, “they saw an unidentified occupant fire several shots from a red vehicle,” police said.

According to police, a family member rushed the girl to Roseland Hospital with serious injuries.

On the same day, a 15-year-old boy was shot once in the lower leg while standing outside on South Evans Avenue in the city’s Burnside neighborhood, police said. Police provided only one detail about the shooting: the victim stated that he “heard several shots and felt pain.”

According to Police Superintendent David Brown, homicides are up 5% year over year, and shootings are up 17%. He insisted, however, that violent crime is “trending downward” in “fits and starts.”

In May, Chicago saw a decrease in homicides compared to the same month last year, and the Memorial Day weekend ended with fewer killings than any in a decade.

Residents Shocked After Teen Girl was Sexually Assaulted on Beach Park Bike Path

Many Beach Park residents were taken aback to learn that the teen girl was raped in a remote area near a popular biking trail but relieved to know that she recovered enough to identify her attacker. Numerous law enforcement agencies are collaborating to apprehend the perpetrator at the moment.

The Robert McClory Bike Path is located in Lake County. According to police, the girl was walking along the path at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Monday when she noticed a man emerge from the trees and begin yelling at her.

“She continued her walk northbound, attempting to ignore the person,” Lake County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Christopher Covelli said. “The person then violently grabbed her by the neck, forced her to the ground, forcefully removed her clothes, and sexually assaulted her.”

According to the police, a neighbor heard the girl screaming and pleading for help. The neighbor yelled at the girl, telling her to run, as she dialed 911 to report the incident. The suspect, however, was able to escape the scene immediately in a vehicle.

The man was said to be a “Black man in his early 20s, with metal barrettes in his hair,” according to a police spokesman.

Residents are now left seeking answers and pleading for action as the case’s suspect remains at large.

“It is very unnerving,” one resident said.

Another area resident, Jeff Troiola, rides his bike or jogs on the trail daily and says this isn’t the first time he’s heard of an incident. He suggested that it would be prudent for the police to install security cameras along the biking trail’s length to help deter crime.

“Probably like six months ago, a similar thing happened, but she got away,” he said. “I’ve seen all sorts of crazy things on this trail. You see homes back up the entire length of this trail. There’s no reason it shouldn’t be safe.”

Detectives are looking for any surveillance footage of the attacker and are asking for assistance from anyone with information.
