Mobvoi smartwatches will finally receive the update to Wear OS 3. The Chinese company itself announced this, specifying that the roll-out will start by December 25th and will require 1-2 months to reach all users.
Update News
The affected models are TicWatch Pro 3 GPS, TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS, TicWatch Pro 3 LTE and TicWatch E3.
For Mobvoi this is a complex update, which required rewriting much of the software to adapt it to the particular architecture of its devices, based on Qualcomm ‘s Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip and a proprietary coprocessor. A long and meticulous job, which inevitably extended the release times. Below you will find the words of the company that give an official explanation regarding this matter:
The devices that will receive this update are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform and Mobvoi coprocessor. The intricate nature of this update required the engineering team to build a completely new architecture, comparable to developing a new software structure for the Wear OS 3 system.
Now Wear OS 3 is finally on its way to TicWatch Pro 3 and TicWatch E3, although it could take up to two months for everyone to receive the update notification. Better late than never, but there is no doubt that Mobvoi has lost a lot of trust and credibility with its customers due to its slowness in keeping its promises.
