Cooper asserted that he did not hear any fight or disturbance leading up to the shooting.

Philstavious Dowdell, who had a bright future ahead of him, was set to graduate from high school in just a month and had secured a scholarship to play football at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, as revealed by Cooper.

Described as a “hometown hero” by Cooper, Dowdell’s untimely death in the Alabama shooting is a tragic loss for his community and the promising future he had ahead of him.

In an interview with CNN, Michael Taylor, a coach at Dadeville High School, expressed disbelief upon learning about the mass shooting.

Taylor had coached Dowdell since the age of 9 and spoke highly of him as a standout athlete, remarking that he excelled in everything he put his hand on.

Taylor recalled a recent conversation with Dowdell in which the teenager expressed concern for his two sisters and asked Taylor to take care of them even when he went to college. Struggling to come to terms with the reality of Dowdell’s death, Taylor expressed disbelief, stating that it just couldn’t be true.

The profound impact of Dowdell’s loss on those who knew and coached him is evident in Taylor’s heartfelt sentiments.
