Amanda Bynes has been placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold and is currently under the care of medical professionals after being found walking the streets of LA naked. The actress approached a man and asked for help before calling 911 herself, claiming that she was coming down from a “psychotic episode.”

A source close to the situation has confirmed to NBC News on March 20 that Amanda Bynes, whose conservatorship ended a year ago, has been put on a 72-hour psychiatric hold. The insider also revealed that Bynes has not been in touch with her family for quite some time.

E! News contacted Amanda’s lawyer for comment but has not received a response as of the time of publication.

Although Amanda was expected to attend the 90s Con in Connecticut with her former All That co-stars over the weekend, the star, who resides in California, didn’t make it to the East Coast event.

In 2013, Amanda’s life took a drastic turn when she was put under a temporary conservatorship due to a series of legal troubles, ultimately leading to an involuntary psychiatric hold. However, her struggles didn’t end there. The following year, she found herself under the watchful eye of a conservatorship overseen by her mother, Lynn Bynes. Her finances, medical care, and personal affairs were no longer hers to manage. This prompted a string of concerning social media posts about her father, Rick Bynes.

Although Bynes has made significant strides in her life after seeking drug and mental health treatment and enrolling in the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), her conservatorship was prolonged in 2018. According to Lynn’s attorney, Tamar Arminak, Amanda and her parents were content with the arrangement, and felt that it could be terminated before 2020 if necessary. However, as they were satisfied with Amanda’s progress and future prospects, ending the conservatorship wasn’t their priority.

In February 2022, Amanda took a significant step in her journey of personal growth and progress. After working tirelessly to repair her relationship with her parents, she submitted legal documents to terminate her conservatorship. In these papers, she asserted that she was capable of making informed decisions about medical treatments and no longer required the court-ordered protection. It was a bold move that demonstrated Amanda’s determination to regain control of her life.

The petition Amanda filed, with Lynn’s backing, included details about her current living situation. She had moved into a community of apartments designated for women who were preparing to live independently. Furthermore, her regular toxicology screenings consistently yielded negative results, indicating that she was not consuming any illegal substances. These statements showed her readiness to take charge of her life and demonstrated her commitment to a healthy and stable lifestyle.

In March 2022, Amanda’s conservatorship was officially terminated, much to the delight of her family and herself. Lynn’s legal representative informed E! News that the family was thrilled with Amanda’s remarkable progress and looked forward to her next endeavors. Amanda herself shared her joy with a statement, expressing her delight and saying that no words could adequately describe her feelings.

“Words can’t even describe how I feel. Wonderful News,” Amanda said.

Terminating her conservatorship marked a significant milestone in Amanda’s journey of personal growth and a new chapter of freedom and independence in her life.

Amanda has been candid about the impact of her drug addiction on her mental well-being. In a 2018 interview with Paper, the former child star disclosed that she had battled drug abuse and had used substances like ecstasy and Adderall before achieving sobriety. She attributed her erratic behavior during that period to drug use and maintained that she was a kind and respectful person when not under their influence.

Amanda also expressed remorse for her hurtful comments on social media and stated that she was ashamed of her past conduct. She also conveyed a sense of optimism about her future, saying that she had emerged stronger from her challenges and that things could only improve.
