Android Auto now indicates which apps are working if the vehicle is parked

Google has very consistently updated Android Auto, introducing a series of new features that improve the driving experience. With the latest version, a small icon has been added next to the applications that only work when the vehicle is not moving.

Version 11.4 of stable Android Auto was recently released , while notification summaries managed by artificial intelligence were introduced in the latest beta version . With the latest stable version, however, a new feature has been silently introduced that will make it easier to understand which applications can only be used when the vehicle is parked and stationary.

Applications on Android Auto can in fact perform various functions, but some of these can only be used when we are not driving. One example is GameSnacks, a collection of touchscreen games designed primarily for electric vehicles, to be used as a form of entertainment while charging the car.

Android Auto introduces an icon for some apps

Previously, if you tried to open GameSnacks or other applications while driving, Android Auto would return an error message stating that you needed to be stationary to use the application. This message only appeared when the app was opened, but with the latest version we will be able to immediately understand which apps we can use while driving and which we cannot.

In fact, a “P”-shaped icon has been introduced on all apps that require the vehicle to be parked to function. This is a small but important innovation introduced without particular explanations, but which will make the use of Android Auto even more immediate .
