Apple Reportedly Developing New MacBook Pro

Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new MacBook Pro powered by the yet-to-be-announced M4 chip, as per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The new M4 chip will succeed the current M3 chip, which is Apple’s first to be based on the 3nm architecture.

MacBook Pro With M4 Chip is in the Works

Apple has just started working on the formal development of the MacBook Pro with the M4 chip. The M4 chip is rumoured to be based on the A18, Apple’s upcoming chip for this year’s iPhone 16 lineup.

Both chips are expected to bring more Neural Engine cores to handle AI-related tasks, aligning with the anticipated iOS 18 and macOS 15 updates. For comparison, the Neural Engine of the A17 Pro chip can process up to 35 trillion operations per second.

The M3 chip is 30% more powerful than the M1 chip, which was unveiled in November 2020. Apple also introduced the M3 Pro and M3 Max variants for the high-end versions of the MacBook Pro.

Apple recently introduced the M3 MacBook Air and the iMac lineup has already been updated with an M3 chip. The Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro are still awaiting their turn. Hence, maybe this will happen first before the M4 launch.
