Browsing with Google Chrome becomes more efficient on Android

Taking advantage of Google Chrome’s back/forward cache or bfcache significantly improves the browser’s browsing speed when the user returns to the previously visited page.

Available since version 96, bfcache is now enabled for all Google Chrome users on both desktop and mobile devices.

Google Chrome becomes more efficient thanks to back/forward caching

Back/forward caching takes a complete snapshot of a page when users leave it, so that if they decide to return, Google ‘s browser can restore the page almost instantly, as it doesn’t have to reload and process the previous page again.

This is useful for example when you click on a link to another page and then go back because you realize that what you were looking for isn’t there.

This addition to Chrome also reduces data usage, as Google Chrome usage statistics reveal that going back and forth is a frequent action while browsing, so bfcache avoids reloading billions of web pages every day.
