It seems the controversy surrounding Former President Donald Trump isn’t going to end any time soon. The Associated Press has reported that he has lost his last chance to testify and defend himself in the trial accusing him of raping an advice columnist back in 1996.
E. Jean Carroll, aforementioned advice columnist, has launched a civil case against Trump, alleging that the former president raped her in a department store in 1996. This is the first case against Trump alleging sexual misconduct that has actually seen its day in court.
The court proceedings happened throughout the last two weeks, with the final chance for Trump to take the witness stand to falsify the allegations last Sunday. However, Trump was a no-show throughout the entire duration of the trial.
The defense and prosecution are scheduled for closing arguments yesterday, without Trump’s testimony as evidence.
Caroll has sued for punitive damages and the amount is allegedly a few million dollars. As of writing, there is no final decision on the case.
