California-based Enevate and Korea’s JR Energy Solution, recently revealed that both of them together going to build a battery cell electrode factory in the US.
Enevate and JR ES combinely make made-to-order lithium-ion battery cell electrodes. It comprises anodes and cathodes and also provides a range of electrode solutions for other customers.
Talking about their dedicated role then Enevate develops extremely fast-charging EV battery technology. While JR Energy Solution (JR ES) is responsible for designing and manufacturing lithium-ion battery electrodes and cells. Its cell foundry model enables lithium-ion cell makers to produce customized electrodes and cell solutions.
Enevate described how the joint battery cell electrode facility is going to work together:
The battery cell electrode foundry facility will enable customers to outsource parts of their production; speed up their development process; or order tailor-made electrodes to qualify their materials or production equipment, while having the benefit of receiving ultra-high-quality electrodes produced on state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment at mass production speed.
According to Enevate CEO Bob Kruse, this merger between the companies is great news for the complete battery industry in the U.S. It will greatly enable customers to get easy access to Enevate’s industry-leading silicon-dominant technology.

It will allow customers to get access to Enevate’s industry-leading silicon-dominant battery technology and to tap into JR ES’s knowledge and expertise in electrode and battery cell manufacturing. Moreover, it will enable customers to accelerate their development process or to outsource parts of their production capacity.”
Both of these two associated companies presently evaluating potential US locations in order to unearth their facility unit. They have a plan to develop up to 6 GWh of annual paired electrode capacity. This comprises (6 GWh anode + 6 GWh cathode) in different development stages.
JR ES has done the groundbreaking ceremony of its first factory in South Korea. While the company is predicted to come online in the fourth quarter of this year respectively.
