The Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone was launched with an S Pen recently and retains the 10+’s four-year-old maximum charging speed. Currently, Samsung’s fastest charging device is only operated with a 45W rate as “Super Fast Charging,” although other brands have surpassed it by offering faster charging times for batteries of similar size using USB Type-C ports. Samsung is now reportedly working on EV-stacked battery technology.

Now, according to the latest rumor, South Korean tech is all set to bring a new improvement to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Leaker RGcloudS suggests that Samsung’s SDI division has developed a new type of battery specifically designed for faster and more reliable charging. This battery will use the advanced stacked technology originally designed for electric cars and now making its way to Android smartphones.

Rumors suggest that Samsung’s S23 Ultra successor, and possibly the S24+, will feature the new stacked battery. Samsung is not only the OEM to do this, iPhone maker Apple has also joined the race and it was recently reported that it has upgraded its iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models with the same technology, including the higher-end 15 Pro and Pro Max variants.

Meanwhile, the S24 Ultra might introduce a state-of-the-art cooling gel thermal management system for its new battery. However, despite these anticipated advancements in Samsung’s mobile power technology, the top charging speed of the Ultra is expected to reach only 65W, still lagging behind even mid-range offerings from other brands in 2023.

The Galaxy S24 series is reportedly in the works and is likely to launch in the first quarter of 2024. It will be made available in Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 variants in different markets.

The S24 Ultra is expected to be launched with minor changes in camera upgrades over its predecessor. Recently, a popular Twitter tipster Ice Universe (Twitter @UniverseIce) confirmed that the S24 Ultra will ship with the same camera setup as the existing Galaxy S23 Ultra. This means that the smartphone could pack a 200-megapixel Samsung HP2 primary camera similar to the S23U, and a 12-megapixel Sony IMX564 ultra-wide lens.

Rerportedly, the phone is to get a 12-megapixel Sony IMX754 periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and another 12-megapixel Sony IMX754+ image sensor with 10x optical zoom. The existing Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and another 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom support.
