Get out the apron, it's time for some fall food.

Get out the apron, it's time for some fall food.

As the leaves begin to turn and the air becomes crisp, it’s time to embrace the flavors of fall with hearty and comforting meals. Autumn is a season filled with rich and earthy ingredients that inspire a variety of delicious dishes. Don’t we all just love fall food?

Here are some mouthwatering meals to make for fall that will warm your heart and satisfy your taste buds.

1. Butternut Squash Soup: There’s nothing quite like a bowl of creamy butternut squash soup to kick off the fall season, and I am not above admitting that I am a huge fan of the premade kind you get from Trader Joes. But honestly, there’s just something about the homemade version that can’t be beat, with roasted butternut squash, onions, garlic, and a hint of nutmeg all coming together to create a velvety and soul-soothing soup. Top it with a dollop of sour cream and some toasted pumpkin seeds for extra flavor and crunch (feta and bacon on top works too).

2. Apple and Pork Casserole: Combine the sweetness of apples with the savory goodness of pork in a comforting (sort of) casserole. Sear pork chops until golden brown, then simmer them with sliced apples, onions, and a blend of fall spices. Bake it all in the oven until the pork is tender and the apples have caramelized for a delightful fall meal. Don’t let the sweet meat haters tell you it’s not delicious.

3. Roasted Root Vegetables: Fall is the perfect time to indulge in the earthy flavors of root vegetables. Toss carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, and beets with olive oil, rosemary, and garlic, then roast them until they’re caramelized and tender. These roasted vegetables make an excellent side dish or a hearty main course for vegetarians. Or Meatless Monday – yes, this is still a thing in my house.

4. Pumpkin Risotto: Pumpkin isn’t just for pies; it also makes a fantastic addition to savory dishes. And as a huge fan of risotto, I say you’ve got to try your hand at a creamy pumpkin risotto with Arborio rice, chicken or vegetable broth, Parmesan cheese, and a touch of white wine. The pumpkin adds a velvety texture and a subtle sweetness that’s perfect for the season.

5. Cranberry-Glazed Chicken: For a tangy and sweet twist on classic roasted chicken, consider a cranberry glaze (and don’t be afraid of adding a little maple sugar, you saucy thing). Mix cranberry sauce with balsamic vinegar, honey, and a dash of mustard, then brush it over chicken thighs or breasts before roasting. The result is a flavorful and festive dish that captures the essence of fall.

Now just sit back and prepare to amaze everyone at the dinner party.
