In a new candid interview, the supermodel has opened up for the first time about her divorce from the NFL legend.

To Vanity Fair, she said, “It’s tough because you imagine your life was going to be a certain way, and you did everything you could, you know?”

This marks her first public interview about the dissolution of her 13 year marriage to Brady.

In regards to the rumors that the divorce was sparked by Brady going back on his promise to retire, Bundchen stated, “What’s been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle. It’s not so black and white,” going on to say, “when I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together. As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make.” Bündchen referred to those rumors as hurtful, and said that, when it comes to Brady “I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever.”

“When you love someone, you don’t put them in a jail and say, ‘You have to live this life. You set them free to be who they are, and if you want to fly the same direction, then that’s amazing.”

Bündchen and Brady finalized their divorce in October 2022, just after making the announcement via Instagram of their decision to separate after nearly 15 years of marriage. Together, they share daughter Vivian, 10, and son Benjamin, 13.
