Relationships and Marriage

In 1957, Jackson met Roy Hodges, a fellow actor and stage manager within their repertory theatre company. The two began a relationship, eventually leading to their marriage on 2 August 1958 at St Marylebone Register Office in London.

In 1969, their son Daniel was born, with Jackson still actively involved in filming “Women in Love” during her pregnancy.

Dan Hodges has since become a former Labour Party adviser and newspaper columnist for The Mail on Sunday. Despite their differences in political affiliations, their relationship remained intact.

Marital Challenges and Divorce

During the early stages of her career, Jackson and her husband resided in Swiss Cottage, located in northwest London. Interestingly, this area later became the constituency she represented as a Member of Parliament. In the late 1960s, the couple relocated to Blackheath in southeast London, marking their new residence.

By the early 1970s, Jackson’s marriage with Roy Hodges encountered difficulties. In 1975, she began an affair with Andy Phillips, the lighting director for the production of “Hedda Gabler” in which she starred.

Roy Hodges filed for divorce on the grounds of her adultery with Phillips in November of that year, and their divorce was finalized in 1976. Jackson and Phillips maintained an on-off relationship until 1981. However, as of 2016, was reported that Jackson had been contentedly single for many years.
