The popular browser from the Mountain View giant, the team of developers has decided to use desktop mode on premium Android tablets in order to guarantee users a more pleasant experience. This replaces the Mobile User-Agent that the browser typically uses on Android-based devices.
For Google Chrome, premium Android tablets are those that can count on at least 8 GB of RAM and a display with a 10-inch diagonal (or larger). Chrome now defaults to desktop mode on ‘premium’ Android tablets.
As the Android tablet ecosystem has seen more large and powerful devices become readily available, we’ve found that the desktop website can often be a better experience than the mobile site.
