The dark theme of the Google Play Store is getting even darker with the latest change from Google. As you can see in the comparison image below, the previously dark gray background has become blacker – we’re not talking complete black in full OLED style, but we’re close. If you struggle to tell the difference, try comparing the black app icon.
Google Play Store dark theme is now more darker
This change has been in testing for some time , but is reaching more and more users these days. The (almost) black has arrived not only as the background of the home screen, obviously, but also in the other screens (including the one for updating applications).
Unfortunately there is no way to speed things up, in case you haven’t received the news yet: the only thing you can do is check that you have the latest version of the Google Play Store on board. To do this you can open the app and select “ Settings > About > Play Store version > Update Play Store “. To manually change the theme (light or dark) you can instead go to ” Settings > General > Theme “.
