Hyundai and Kia sold more than 1.5 million electric vehicles

Hyundai Motor Group’s two major brands, Hyundai and Kia investing heavily in the electric vehicle market. They have launched a number of electric vehicles and are continuing to launch new models.

Hyundai and Kia sold more than 1.5 million electric vehicles

According to several media reports, Hyundai Motor and Kia disclosed on Sunday local time that their cumulative sales of electric vehicles exceeded 1.5 million units at the end of last year.

Hyundai Motor’s first electric car, BlueOn, was launched in July 2011. It took 12 years from the launch of the first electric car to the cumulative sales of electric cars of the two major brands to exceed 1.5 million units.

Reportedly, 516,441 of the electric vehicles sold by Hyundai and Kia were sold last year, accounting for more than one-third of the 1.53 million electric vehicles they have sold.

In addition, the electric vehicles sold by Hyundai Motor and Kia are mainly exported to other markets. Last year alone, 80% were sold in overseas markets. Best-selling models include Hyundai Kona, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia Niro, Kia EV6, etc..
