BTS’ Jungkook just released his song, “Seven” featuring rapper Latto and it has broken the charts. Just a few hours after the release, the record skyrocketed to the top of the charts. It has beaten songs from other artists including “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish, “Overdrive” by Post Malone, and “Rush” by Troye Sivan, among others.

Jungkook has gained worldwide fame as part of the iconic K-pop boy band, BTS. The other members of the group are Taehyung, RM, Jimin, J-hope, and Suga (Agust D). After breaking into the international charts, the band has been at its peak and was able to perform at international music award shows.

However, at the band’s summit of fame, BTS suddenly announced earlier this year that they will be halting group activities and will be going on hiatus. There have been a few speculations prior to the announcement because several members of the band had to attend the mandatory army training as South Koreans. But the main cause of the hiatus as explained by their record label, HYBE, is to let each member focus on their individual career and the music they want to put out on their own.

The decision proved successful by other members of the group. JHope and Suga even had their own documentary shows produced and available and Disney+ for their fans. Suga or Agust D is also touring around for his D-Day concerts.

Now, Jungkook, as the maknae, or the youngest of the group, is also following suit. He has been interested in making his own music for a while now. In fact, he has released a few songs on streaming platforms.

His most recent song collaboration with rapper Latto, “Seven,” is an immediate hit, to no one’s surprise. With his remarkable vocals and Latto’s effective rapping, the song has made waves. The fans have spoken and they chose the song as the week’s favorite new song for the Billboard charts. Melon, the Korean music charts, has landed “Seven” in the top spot. It has also made the iTunes worldwide charts.

BTS is on hiatus from its announcement on June 14, 2023, until 2025. But even though the group isn’t set to produce music for a couple of years, their fans still support the music they put out individually. After over a decade of being in the same group and performing together, it is high time for the members to show the fans and the world something new that they produced solo. It has been a trend in K-pop groups recently for the members to put out their own music outside of the group and it hasn’t negatively impacted the group. On the contrary, it shed light on what the members can do individually.

In the future, fans can expect to see more of Jungkook on his own, playing his own music to the world. And we are here for it!
