LG promotes the commercialization of its self-developed DC-Q AI chip. This DQ-C chip is mainly used in the internal systems of home appliances, supporting AI control, driving LCD screens, recognizing voice, etc. This chip is produced by TSMC’s 28nm process technology.

LG spent three years in-depth research and development of the DQ-C chip, which was first released in July 2023 and used in 5 LG products including washing machines, dryers, and air conditioners.

In July 2023, LG launched washing machines and dryers equipped with DQ-C chips for the first time in its Home Appliances 2.0 series, and showed a physical DC-Q chip at last year’s IFA.

An LG Electronics official said: “We do not use general-purpose chips, but use self-developed chips to optimize the functions of home appliances. LG Electronics is the only company that specifically designs artificial intelligence chips for home appliances.”
