Whoever is elected will serve as a member of the Naperville City Council and serve a 4-year term.
So who’s running?
First up, we have Benjamin “Benny” White
Benny went to West Point in 1983 and graduated in 1987. He then went on to serve in the Army for the next twenty-two years, traveling the US and around the world, and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He and his family, his wife and two children, were stationed near Naperville in 2005 and have made the city their home since. Benny can also boast two Masters degrees, and MBA and a DBA in Values-Driven Leadership. He has also served on the Naperville City Council and believes that the time he spent there will serve him well as he hopes to make the transition to mayorhood.
When asked why he wants to run for mayor, Benny says “As we move into the second quarter of this decade we will need to make some important decisions about our electric utility (how to transition away from coal), about how to engage, include, and serve our residents from Generation Z citizens to our seniors, about how to maintain a supportive business environment, and how to make the best use of our geographical assets.”
Next is Tiffany Stephens
Tiffany boasts experiences as both a public servant and a business leader. She has lived in Naperville for over twenty-five years and after attending ATI in 2000, studying private investigation and pre-law, Tiffany has gone one to engage in business and has more than proved how passionate she is in regards to helping others. She founded both Caring For Children Daycare and Kids Teen Rider – a non-profit organization that provides transportation services to kids and teens within the Naperville school district.
Tiffany has also made the commitment to continuing her education and pursuing both business and law degrees.
In her own words, Tiffany says “I am the only woman on the ballot for mayor of Naperville. I am running a grass root campaign, along with putting the people before politics. I would love to be your mayor, the people’s mayor of Naperville.”
And finally we have Scott Wehrli
Scott is a businessman and has worked in local law enforcement for over twenty years. He helped to co-found a group of community banks that specialized in local lending for small businesses. It is his belief that Naperville needs a mayor who will look out for the city’s businesses and make efforts to cut the red tape, helping to create jobs in an effort to fuel a thriving local economy.
When asked why he was running for mayor, Scott said, “Naperville isn’t just my home, it’s our home. We didn’t become great by choosing sides. We became great by doing what’s right for our community, our neighbors, and our neighbors’ kids. I’m Scott Wehrli, that’s why I’m running for mayor, and I ask for your vote on April 4th.”
