Harry and Meghan Security Chief Speaks Out About Harrowing Car Chase

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Cardiff, Wales, UK

Tom Buda, head of the security firm Buda Security Inc, and hired by Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, said that the couple is “shaken up” by the reckless paparazzi led car chase that took place earlier this week after they left an event where Meghan was being honored. He also went on to say that the events that took place were “frightening” and that the paparazzi had put the family “in danger.”

First Public Event in Months for Harry and Meghan

Police officials have said that the couple had left Ziegfeld’s Ballroom around 10 pm that evening, getting into their SUV to leave the event.

This was the first public event that Meghan had attended since December, and the first for Harry since the coronation of his father just a few weeks ago.

The police department’s deputy commissioner of public information, Julian Phillips, has said that officers “assisted the private security team protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Buda says that the goal of the paparazzi was to find out where the Sussexes were staying with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. He went on to state about the paparazzi that while this “was not a high speed pursuit, it was reckless by them.”

Paparazzi Claim There Was No Danger and No Chase

Backgrid USA Inc, a picture agency has made the claim that this is not in fact how the evening happened, and that there was no chase. They said, “the photographers report that one of the four SUVs from Prince Harry’s security escort was driving in a manner that could be perceived as reckless. To point out that according to the photographers present, there were no near-collisions or near-crashes during this incident. The photographers have reported feeling that the couple was not in immediate danger at any point.”

Eventually Buda switched the couple from their known SUV and into the back of an NYC cab driven by Sonny Singh. According to Singh, they were about to pull out onto the main road when a garbage truck pulled in front of them, allowing the pursuing paparazzi to surround the vehicle. Eventually they were able to pass and the Sussexes, as well as Meghan’s mother Doria, were driven to the police station.

So Who Was Behind This?

It has come to light that multiple British tabloids, such as the Sun, actually did purchase the photos, but have since pulled them from their websites.
