Google unveiled its first Pixel Fold last year. A new report has now surfaced online suggesting that Google might bring the Pixel 9 Pro Fold as the company’s next foldable instead of the Pixel Fold 2.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold might replace Pixel Fold 2
According to a report by Android Authority, Google has likely adjusted the naming scheme for this year’s Pixel smartphones. The report states that the Google Pixel 9 is codenamed “tokay,” while the Pixel 9 Pro is codenamed “caiman”.
On the other hand, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is codenamed “komodo,” and the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is codenamed “comet”.
Additionally, these codenames have likely been confirmed by some of the software built for the tech giant’s devices to be launched this year.
Furthermore, what’s worth mentioning is that the company had referred to the phone codename “comet” as the “Pixel Fold 2” in the recent past. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL are roughly successors to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, while the Pixel 9 Pro is said to be a smaller size, similar to the Pixel 9, but with the spec upgrades we’re used to from the Pros. All of these should use the upcoming Tensor G4 SoC.
