Google has announced the rollout of the latest update for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2, featuring the April 2024 security patch. This update comes with two notable new features and various improvements.
The update, labeled TWD9.240405.001 and based on Wear OS 4, brings the Pixel Watch models up to the “April 5, 2024” security patch level. It’s worth noting that this update has arrived ahead of similar updates for Pixel phones.
Pixel Watch Features
One of the standout features introduced in this update is the Vibration Watch. Users can now access this feature by navigating to Settings > Vibration > “Vibration watch.” It allows users to tap their watch face with two fingers to receive the current time as a series of vibrations. A single tap indicates the hour, while a double tap signifies the minutes. Additionally, there are two vibration types available: Digits, which gives a long vibration for 10 and a short vibration for one, and Terse, which rounds the current time to the nearest quarter hour with a short vibration for each 15-minute increment. Users also have the option to adjust the vibration speed to their preference.
Another improvement included in this update is an enhancement to the auto-brightness feature. Users will now experience a smoother transition between brightness levels, making it easier to perceive the difference when switching.
In addition to these new features, the Pixel Watch April 2024 update also includes numerous bug fixes and performance updates, enhancing the overall user experience.
For those eager to get their hands on the update, Google suggests tapping the “Your watch is up to date” screen multiple times in Settings > System > System updates to initiate the download. Users can also speed up the process by disabling Bluetooth and enabling Wi-Fi in Connectivity preferences.
