Samsung normalized its NAND flash memory business

As per the latest news from ETNews, industry insiders said that Samsung has recently increased its NAND capacity utilization rate to 90%, a further increase from 80% in the first quarter.

Regarding Samsung Electronics’ NAND business, Korean media ETNews and The Elec have a relatively optimistic attitude.

ETNews reported in a report that some of Samsung’s large flash memory wafer fabs are actually at full capacity, which is significantly better than the lowest capacity utilization rate of 60% last year.

According to reports, the capacity utilization rate of China’s Xi’an factory was the first to increase significantly. Since then, the production capacity of Samsung’s NAND factory in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, has also been gradually restored.

Another source said that the NAND flash memory inventory of downstream customers is basically exhausted, and supply and demand are reaching a balance . This is also the confidence for Samsung to continue to increase production capacity utilization.

The report believes that the artificial intelligence boom has driven related companies to increase their demand for enterprise-class solid-state drives, and cloud service manufacturers in North America and China have increased their purchases of enterprise-class storage. This is an important factor in the improvement in demand.
