Stanley Tucci spoke out about his battle with cancer. The Oscar-nominated actor was first diagnosed with cancer in 2018. He had a tumor on his tongue that doctors deemed cancerous.

This was a hard blow to Tucci, as he had witnessed his first wife’s lost battle with the deadly disease. He lost his wife, Kate, to cancer in 2009. So as soon as he got the diagnosis, Tucci immediately wanted to get it treated.

Unfortunately, his doctors advised that they can’t take out the tumor because of its precarious location. So Tucci had to undergo several months of intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatment. All this time, the actor was keeping his disease a secret from the public.

He reportedly lost around 35 pounds from the treatment. He had a feeding tube to pump food directly into his stomach because the tumor was in his mouth. He said, “I had a feeding tube for six months and everything tasked like you-know-what and smelled like you-know-what.”

Thankfully, after months of recovery, the actor was able to overcome his disease. He thanked his wife, whom he married in 2012, for being his strength in those trying months. “I was so afraid but Felicity was very persistent and had to drag me kicking and screaming…I wouldn’t be around if I hadn’t done that.” Tucci said.

Now the 62-year-old veteran actor has resumed his activities and even starred in Citadel, a series on Amazon Prime Video.
