In response to recent rumors circulating on the anonymous Instagram account DeuxMoi, Taylor Swift’s long-time publicist, Tree Paine, unequivocally refuted the speculations that the singer had a secret marriage ceremony with ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn in either 2020 or 2021.
Paine took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight, emphasizing, “There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind,” and expressing frustration with the spread of unfounded information.
Paine specifically called out DeuxMoi for perpetuating these “fabricated lies” and urged accountability for the potential harm and distress caused by such misleading posts.
The controversy escalated when DeuxMoi shared a speculative post suggesting that Swift’s song “You’re Losing Me” was inspired by a past miscarriage that strained her relationship with Alwyn. This post was later deleted from DeuxMoi’s Instagram Stories after Paine’s response.
Amid social media turmoil, DeuxMoi defended its actions, asserting that the intention was not to spread falsehoods and apologized to Taylor Swift. Swift and Alwyn had previously announced their separation in April after a six-year relationship marked by privacy and evasion of engagement rumors.
Swift, who is currently in a relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, addressed engagement rumors on her track “Lavender Haze,” shedding light on the constant speculation surrounding her personal life. The song, part of her album released in October 2022, delves into the theme of ignoring tabloid rumors to protect the authenticity of her relationship with Alwyn.
Despite the ongoing gossip, Swift made a surprise appearance at Beyoncé’s Renaissance film premiere in London. She expressed her solidarity with the music industry icon there by donning a silver outfit that perfectly complemented the event’s theme.
