Tesla motive to come up with an in-house rental service

It has come to notice that Tesla start hiring to introduce a new in-house “Tesla Rental Program”. This comes under a pilot program that subsequently starts in collision centers in Texas.
Therefore, as a part of this requirement, the automaker has posted a new job listing for the position of “Program Manager, Business Development.”

Melissa Porche Blakely, who is designated as a staff program manager, Business Development at Tesla, posted the listing on LinkedIn. This is along with the caption mentioning “big things happening.” The same has been first observed by @SawyerMerritt.

As seen, in the job posting, Tesla mentions that the program manager’s role is going to be to launch the “Tesla Rental Program” in Texas:

Lead in the launch of the Tesla Rental Program in Texas

However, Tesla doesn’t elaborate on the rental program in the job listing. But it does specify that there will be a pilot program in Tesla’s collision centers respectively:

Support the team on launching a small pilot in all Texas collision sites.

Tesla collision centers

Notably, Tesla operates five collision centers or body shops in Texas. The two of which are around Houston, one located in San Antonio, another in Austin, and one in Dallas. So far, it’s also unclear whether this rental program by Tesla is being started for customers at collision centers. Or else, only the pilot program will start at the centers and a broader aspect of the car rental program could come later.

On the other hand, Tesla vehicles are already available for rent, run by rental giant Hertz. The firm also ordered 100,000 Tesla vehicles to update its fleet.
