The US smartphone market fell 5 percent year-on-year

Canalys reported that in the third quarter of 2023, the U.S. smartphone market dropped 5% year-on-year to 31 million units, continuing the downward trend.

However, Canalys mentioned that due to the launch of Apple’s iPhone 15 /Pro series of mobile phones and operators’ promotions for high-end device upgrades, the U.S. smartphone market, although declining year-on-year, grew by 21% month-on-month.

Apple remained in first place, with shipments falling slightly by 8% to 17.2 million units.

Samsung’s shipments rebounded slightly from the second quarter, reaching 6.8 million units. Its new foldable mobile phones performed well, accounting for more than 20% of shipments.

Motorola had its best quarterly performance since the second quarter of 2022, capturing 9% market share and growing shipments by 14% year-on-year.

TCL and Google Pixel ranked in the top five, each gaining 4% market share, with shipments of 1.3 million and 1.2 million units respectively.
