There’s a Distinct Lack of Excitement Surrounding the Coronation

In regards to the coronation, an event he’s playing, musician Derrone White, the child of Jamaican parents, said to ABC, “Personally it’s a little bit hard to connect to the whole occasion. I think that the coronation could possibly allow people like me to try and connect to (the monarchy). But it can be a bit tough.”

His statement seems to be a pretty accurate representation of how much of the UK feels in the face of crowning their new king.

We are currently living in a time where most commonwealth nations are seeking their independence from the crown, like Scotland, Jamaica, Antigua, and others. In the UK 1 in 23 children are homeless and the country boasts the highest cost of heating and cooling, something that came to the forefront of the news during the devastating heat wave that ravaged England last year. Yet taxpayers are about to drop a whopping £250 million to crown a man who is a billionaire in his own right.

In regards to the coronation, Scottish citizen D. Simps says, “the coronation is £250 million and the bank of England said we need to get used to being poor. Didn’t think we had the money for something like this? Hundreds of years later, nothing has changed so the peasants continue to pay for the royals way of life. It’s a joke.”

It should also be noted that for the first time in history, the public has been invited to “swear their allegiance to the new king” in what is being referred to as the Homage of the People. The official words are “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to your majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.”

And if you were planning on tuning in for the fashion aspect, it has been reported by royal biographer, Valentin Low, that there will be a distinct lack of sparkle at the coronation in the form of royal jewels and tiaras. He says instead it’s likely the royal women will wear “flowered headpieces.” So if the jewels were the reason you were planning on watching, you might want to sit this one out.
