VPN by Google One Shutting Down Later This Year

According to the latest information, the VPN by Google One will shut down sometime later this year. Google has begun alerting users via email and confirmed the decision to 9to5Google folks.

Google said the decision to shut down VPN by Google One was taken as “people simply weren’t using it.” This means whatever the number of users is, it is well below the company’s expectations. It also wants the team to focus on providing more in-demand Google One features and benefits.

The good news is this decision does not affect Pixel VPN users. Google started offering free VPN service to Pixel users in 2022.

The service is available on the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, and Pixel Fold. These users will be able to use the free VPN through Pixel settings. The company will continue to provide upgrades and new features as well.
