WhatsApp for Android changes skin

WhatsApp news app

After months of testing limited to the beta testers of the Android app, the WhatsApp development team has finally started to distribute the new user interface also on the stable channel.

This new interface is characterized by some significant differences compared to the old one and gives the popular messaging app a decidedly more modern look and decidedly closer to the canons of Google ‘s Material You . So let’s discover the main differences between the old and the new user interface.

WhatsApp for Android has a new interface

Those who use WhatsApp Beta (or those who follow us) are already familiar with the new user interface of the Android app, present in the preview versions for a very long time and now, finally, being distributed to everyone (gradually) on the stable channel with the update that brings the app to version 2.24.5.74 (although for some it may already be available with previous versions).

What are the differences between the old and new interface?

No changes to functionality. The differences between the old and new interface are concentrated in the main section of the popular messaging app, the one characterized by the Chat, Updates , Community and Calls sections , and are of an aesthetic nature.

With the old interface, these were placed at the top and organized in the order Community , Chat , Updates and Calls ; furthermore, it was possible to scroll between one section and another with lateral swipes.

The new interface moves the links down , inside a navigation bar in full Material You style , reorganizes the sections in the order Chat , Updates , Community and Calls.
