King Charles and Prince William intend to keep a “distance” from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for the foreseeable future, according to sources from The Daily Beast.

A friend of William’s who spoke to The Daily Beast stated that Charles should respect William and Kate Middleton’s objection to him frequently giving in to Harry, especially after Charles used the coronation as an opportunity to highlight their shared responsibility for the monarchy and its course.

According to reports, King Charles sent his well wishes to Prince Archie on his birthday, no matter where he was.

Prince Harry was present at the coronation but left soon after to return to California to be with his son Prince Archie on his 4th birthday. It is unclear if Harry had any communication with Charles or William during his time in the UK, although he did reportedly make a stop at Buckingham Palace before heading to Heathrow Airport.

During a private family gathering after the ceremony, Charles raised a toast to the birthday boy Archie, “wherever he was.”

On Tuesday, the day after the official end of the coronation celebrations, William and Kate took center stage at a garden party hosted by Buckingham Palace for 5,000 people, which Charles and Camilla did not attend. Rumor has it that the heir and his wife are much more well-liked than the new king and queen.

A friend of William’s mentioned, “It’s apparent that William and Kate have become integral members of the institution, so their stance on Harry, which essentially is the farther away, the better, must be considered. Let’s put it this way: I doubt anyone anticipates Harry receiving an invitation to William’s coronation.”

In his memoir, Spare, Harry heavily criticized William and Kate. He attributed their encouragement to his wearing a Nazi uniform to a costume party 18 years ago. The book also contained an anecdote about a physical altercation between the two brothers, in which Harry claimed he was thrown to the ground by William, breaking a dog bowl.

According to sources from The Daily Beast, William is extremely hurt by his brother’s revelation of his private affairs and now holds animosity toward Harry. The sources have disclosed that William was especially upset with how Harry recounted the Nazi uniform incident, which appeared to implicate him and Kate.

A friend of Charles and Camilla who spoke with The Daily Beast stated that the opportunity and urgency for resolving the feud that emerged with the coronation have now passed.

“The opportunity that was there for Harry to sort this out with the king is gone for now. Of course, Charles would always welcome a reconciliation with Harry and Meghan, he has made that very clear, and his door is always open in that regard,” the friend stated. “But now the coronation is done, I think Charles will want to focus on the job of being king, rather than to continue being distracted by Harry and Meghan drama.”

When asked if Charles is now more inclined to put a pause on his efforts to reconcile with the Sussexes given that he no longer “needs” them after the coronation, the friend of the king responded, “He’s not that cynical. However, Harry’s presence at the coronation was crucial for Charles, and there was definitely some pressure there. Nonetheless, Charles has been deeply hurt by Harry’s actions in the books and films, and Harry himself appears to feel wronged, so I believe some distance between them will be beneficial for everyone involved.”

It is evident that Harry firmly believes that he has no reason to apologize and is of the strong opinion that the royals owe him and Meghan an apology for the disrespectful treatment they received compared to William and Kate.

In his book, Harry expressed his discontent with getting inferior accommodations compared to his brother and claimed that Meghan was subjected to unconscious bias. He also mentioned that his wife’s request for help when she was suicidal was ignored and that his family and their staff colluded with the press to misrepresent him and Meghan.

Harry does not wish to hasten a resolution with his father and brother. During an interview with Tom Bradby, he stated that the responsibility for reconciliation lay with them, saying that the “ball [was] in their court.”
