Lisa Marie Presley Passes Away Two Days After She Attended the Golden Globes

Lisa Marie Presley, daughter and sole heir of the “King” Elvis Presley, passed away at 54 on January 12, 2023.

Presley was last seen publicly at the recently held Golden Globes Awards on January 10. She attended the awards night in support of Baz Luhrmann’s biopic of her father, “Elvis.” She even praised Austin Butler’s Elvis portrayal in the film.

Videos of the interview she gave at the Golden Globes have gone viral after news of her hospitalization broke out. Netizens were quick to point out that she seemed unsteady on her feet and even grabbed the arm of the talent manager beside her while talking to the reporter. Netizens now wonder if her behavior on the video suggested some underlying medical condition that manifested just days before her death.

However, her cause of death is possibly cardiac arrest. She was allegedly found first by her housekeeper on Thursday morning. Her ex-husband Danny Keough was called to the scene and gave her CPR while waiting for emergency services to arrive. The paramedics reportedly gave CPR and recovered her pulse, after which the singer was brought to the hospital. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, was seen in the hospital together with other members of the family. In the hospital, Lisa Marie was then put in an induced coma. She allegedly coded multiple times before finally passing away.

News of her passing came from her mother, Priscilla. In a statement to Associated Press, Priscilla said, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known.”

Lisa Marie was the only child of music legend Elvis Presley and actress Priscilla Presley. Even though people say she was born into privilege, considering who her parents are, Lisa Marie did not live an easy life. When she was four years old, her parents divorced. She lived with her mother in California. After the divorce, she paid frequent visits to her father in Graceland. But when she was nine, Elvis, unfortunately, passed away. She became the heir to her father’s estate, sharing it with her grandparents, who also died a couple of years later.

Her father’s death had a significant impact on Lisa Marie’s life. She followed in her father’s footsteps and became a musician, releasing three albums, starting in the early 2000s. She even recorded duets with her father using Elvis’ recorded songs before he died.

In 2020, the greatest tragedy happened to her as a mother. Her son, Benjamin Keough, who was 27 years old, unfortunately, died by suicide. It shook Lisa Marie to her core. Her essay on National Grief Awareness Day said, “I keep going because my son made it very clear in his final moments that taking care of his little sisters and looking out for them were on the forefront of his concerns and his mind. He absolutely adored them and they him.”

Messages of condolences for her family flooded social media with some saying she is finally at rest, reunited with her father and son.
