Michael Jordan, a Basketball legend, turns 60 on February 17 and is honoring by donating $10 million to Make-A-Wish America.
The Make-A-Wish is an American charity that grants the desires of children with critical illnesses between the ages of 2 and 12, and 18. Fifty-nine local groups across the United States carry out the organization’s mission.
And through its network of 39 overseas subsidiaries, it serves customers in roughly 50 additional nations. One of the most prominent organizations in the world is Make-A-Wish, which has gotten about $430 million in private contributions over the last five years, as reported in tax documents.
The amount of his gift reportedly makes him the single biggest donor in the group’s 43-year existence. The 14-time All-backing Star has been constant since he gave his first request in 1989.
The owner of the Charlotte Hornets said that for 34 years, it had been a pleasure to work with Make-A-Wish. It was a delight to help bring joy and enthusiasm to many children.
He said it was awe-inspiring to see how they had handled this incredibly challenging moment in their lives with such grit and determination.
Make-A-Wish claimed that Jordan had fulfilled “hundreds” of requests for kids around the globe since 1989. His multibillion-dollar gift will establish a fund to help make goals a reality for sick kids in the future.
Leslie Motter, CEO of Make-A-Wish America, expressed her desire for the public to be motivated to follow in his path by supporting every wish there is.
Reports claim that Jordan, who made a lot of money through a hugely profitable partnership with Nike, has given away millions of dollars to different causes in recent years and plans to give $50 million in 2020 to groups that advocate for racial equality.
People might know about Jordan’s success on the basketball court. However, Motter believes that what he has constantly done off the court when no one is looking makes him a real hero for wish families and the entire Make-A-Wish community.
Having won six NBA Finals Most Valuable Player honors and three NBA championships, Jordan is widely considered the best basketball player of all time.
During his tenure, which lasted from 1984 to 2003, he made the All-Star team 14 times and was named the MVP five times.
The Basketball Hall of Famer was the first sportsman to reach $1 billion in wealth, and he is still one of only three players to do so; Nike’s LeBron James and Tiger Woods are the others.
