Taylor Swift is bringing her “Eras Tour” to the big screen this October, as announced in a recent Instagram post.
The singer expressed her excitement about sharing this special experience with fans. She mentioned that the concert film will be shown in theaters across North America starting on October 13. Tickets are already available for purchase.
Swift encouraged fans to embrace the spirit of the Eras Tour by wearing era-inspired attire, exchanging friendship bracelets, and singing and dancing along. She even quoted a chant from her hit song “Delicate,” which has become a tradition at her Eras shows.
The concert film was captured during her residency at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, where she concluded the domestic leg of her tour earlier this month. Titled “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film,” it will be screened at AMC Theaters on IMAX screens. It will offer multiple showtimes on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Additionally, Regal and Cinemark theaters will also showcase the film. Directed by Sam Wrench, known for directing concert documentaries for artists like Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Jennifer Lopez, the film has a runtime of two hours and 45 minutes.
The announcement comes after the enormous success of the Eras tour, which broke concert sales records and left countless fans eager to relive the experience or catch it for the first time.
The AMC announcement states, “Not only did it shatter all concert sales records, it also left tens of millions of adoring fans wanting more, either because they attended the concert and wanted to see it again, or after being unable to obtain tickets for sold out performance.”
To handle the expected high ticket demand, AMC has upgraded its website and ticketing systems.
Swift’s Eras tour, her first since 2018, has been a monumental success, significantly boosting local economies across the US. It’s now on track to become the highest-grossing tour of all time. The concert film’s release is likely a welcome boost for the struggling movie theater industry, which has faced challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
