Notably, Porsche and Audi come under Volkswagen premium brands. While this has been issuing recalls for its 2023 electric vehicle models. This comprises the Taycan and e-tron GT. In this recall, it is estimated that 7,000 EVs are being recalled due to insufficient battery sealant. This enables liquid to enter, which may increase fire risk. This is a precautionary step taken since there’s no incidents have involved fires.
Porsche and Audi issue recalls
Both Porsche and Audi are aware of a potential issue arising due to insulation resistance values in certain 2023 models. While, in some cases, the liquid was detected in the battery.
In addition to this, between the March and August tenure, the two automakers got a report related to reduced insulation resistance in electric models with sealant from the supplier Teroson. Whereas, in May, Teroson came up with an upgraded sealant. The sealant has been added, which rectifies the new reports to be recorded.
Meanwhile, with the cautionary action, Porsche and Audi are issuing a recall on vehicles with the original Teroson sealant.

As a part of this recall, the automakes dealers will test the vehicles. This is to see if leakage occurs in the battery. Therefore, if the test fails, the battery will be replaced without any extra charge. This recall comprises 1,899 Audi models as well as 4,777 Porsche vehicles. Also, the notification letter has been estimated to be mailed on October 31, 2023. Audi dealers were informed on September 7, whereas, Porsche plans to notify theirs on September 15.
