Severe weather warnings have been all over the Southern and Western United States. Weather conditions are forecasted to affect around 10 to 20 million residents.
The Southern Plains suffered through severe weather last week, but it seems the weather isn’t letting up soon. AccuWeather predictions don’t look too promising for the Plains either.
Severe thunderstorms bringing hail and strong wind gusts are to be expected. There are also some tornado warnings issued. The whole state of Texas is on standby for these conditions. It is reported that around 20 million residents will be affected by the thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said, “Any thunderstorms that can form across this region would probably become severe and pose a threat for large to very large hail and damaging winds…However, uncertainty remains rather high regarding the number of severe thunderstorms that may form owing to nebulous/modest large-scale ascent. The risk for a couple of tornadoes may also increase with this activity late Tuesday.”
Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth, Arlington, and Plano are under the second of five risk categories of the NWS. Other cities forecasted to be affected are Houston, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City.
Meanwhile, flood warnings have been issued in Mississippi and the Midwest. The flood water is seen as a result of melted snow and rainfall in the region. Motorists are advised to be careful of flood-prone areas.
Colorado, on the other hand, is expected to have opposite weather. Winter storms in the state have been forecasted. These storms will bring heavy snowfall of about two feet in the mountainous and central part of the state.
The heat will bring trouble in the Southwest region of the country. Red flag warnings have been issued and the NWS is on the lookout for fires and higher heat index.
Everyone is advised to be careful, especially in the affected areas.
